Bridging the Digital Divide in Schools: “BALA SWECHA”
During our exploration of different schools, we observed the significant digital divide between students from elite schools and those from marginalized communities. This gap in digital learning is especially concerning, as it limits students ability to learn, explore, innovate, and access digital resources.
Throughout our visits, we encountered several challenges that highlight this divide with lack of computers, untrained instructors, absence of a structured curriculum
These issues are not isolated but are prevalent across numerous government schools and small private schools in our region, which is a systemic problem that requires immediate action.
Bridging the digital divide is essential for inclusive education, ensuring that all students, regardless of their socioeconomic background, have equal access to technology and digital learning tools.
Through this initiative, our goal is to create a more equitable learning environment for every student that empowers them to learn, explore and grow.
Introducing “BALA SWECHA”
In response to this critical gap, we launched “BALA SWECHA” β an initiative aimed at empowering students by providing them with the knowledge and digital skills they need to thrive in todayβs technology-driven world.
Through our program, we aim to:
Teach Essential Computer Skills: We will equip students with the foundational computer skills needed to embrace digital learning and integrate technology into their academic pursuits.
Activities to improve Logical Thinking & Problem-Solving: With Scratch programming and Robotics courses, we help students think logically, creatively by making their learning engaging and practical.
Explore Web Technologies: We will introduce students to web technologies which is very interesting which enhances the creative thoughts in students.
